Sadly, Mister came down with a cold so he was feeling too poorly to enjoy the newly opened pool on Memorial Day. Lamb and I enjoyed it however, although Lamb let me jump into the 73 degree water alone after pretending she would jump with me. Well, she telegraphed her intention clearly enough, but I pretended outrage to her delight.
But she had her fill and got cold soon enough, so we didn't spend a lot of time there. We should have lots of opportunities this summer.
Mister's sickness also required him to miss school on Tuesday. That was a shame because it was a field trip to reward Academic Society members. I had volunteered to chaperon* to the Zap Zone in Canton. They were so short-handed that I went anyway. The kids had a grand time. They were easy to chaperon, too, unlike a more general population where you have to watch for the kids trying to exploit their environment. I posted myself at the door to make sure nobody was tempted to sneak out, just in case. Why give good kids the chance for an epic fail when this was a reward, I figured.
But I took my new iPod Touch and was able to read email and surf the web. So it wasn't bad at all. And I got less-than inspiring house-brand pizza. Oh well. It was good enough for field trip work. And better than Chuck-e-Cheese, easily.
I'll have another chance for a field trip with Mister before the end of the year. And Lamb has the school end-of-the-year ice cream social and a girl scout picnic coming up. It's nice to have the opportunity to take part in these events before they slip away forever.
*Huh, spell check gave me this. I had added an "e" at the end. My dictionary says my spelling is the alternate correct spelling. So I'll go with the spell check.
