Can Be Bullied? Check

One of the reasons I've given for thinking that India should have chosen an American fighter plane for their big competition underway is that anybody but America would be vulnerable to pressure from China to cut off support for India. I pointed out that everybody but America has already been bullied out of the Taiwan market. So narrowing the choices to two European companies is a mistake.

Ah, vindication so soon:

In order to obtain weapons orders from India, France has agreed to stop sales of major weapons systems to Pakistan. Although France has recently sold Pakistan submarines, it will now refrain from selling any expensive upgrades. ...

India helped France make this decision by stalling on a planned $2.4 billion upgrade of their Mirage 2000 fighters, and hinted that France could help their prospects in the competition to sell India $11 billion worth of modern (like the French Rafale) fighters if the Pakistanis were cut off.

I hope India enjoys the success of bullying France over sales to Pakistan. Because if India can bully France over Pakistan, do the Indians really believe that France can't be bullied by China over India?

I'd stock up on ammunition and spare parts for any planes that they buy from France, if I was in charge of Indian purchases.
