Chinese patrol boats have harried the Japanese Coast Guard many times a week for more than a month in an unusually relentless response to their latest maritime spat.
I have to wonder if the Chinese are keeping this up with their largely unarmed civilian ships (from the so-called "Five Dragons" maritime agencies) because they plan to seize some of the islands, and would like an incident to justify committing the Chinese navy to the dispute.
Or almost as bad, could any of those maritime agencies draw China into a war that China's leaders don't actually want right now?
Let's hope none of the "Five Dragons" have grenadiers.
