From the Shore

Our command and control ship in the Black Sea is on its own since the frigate sent with that ship was damaged.

Taylor ran aground and is unavailable:

The Mayport-based frigate USS Taylor (FFG 50) is being inspected for damage after running aground Feb. 12.

The incident occurred as Taylor was preparing to moor in Samsun, Turkey. Taylor was able to moor without further incident.

I read at a press conference that we didn't replace Taylor.

How could we? Sixth Fleet is basically a phantom fleet of ships transiting to and from elsewhere.

So I guess we'll have to rely on air support from the shore by our allies to really protect the command-and-control ship, Mount Whitney, in the Black Sea.
