I will say, if the Russian people are happy with a corruption-filled construction process that created an Olympics to salute the stewardship of Putin and celebrate the grand "experiment" of Soviet communism, then who am I to say anything bad about a good Olympics show that the Russians put on for the world?
The Russians seem to have kept the terrorists away from Sochi and have kept them quiet around Russia (or just kept the news quiet, I suppose); and none of the actual sporting infrastructure has collapsed, so the televised sporting events have been a success. Kudos for that.
So what if the figure skating events smelled of Cold War judging favoritism? Eh?
I did concede that the hotel snafus were probably unfairly highlighted.
And at least we and the Russians can share disappointment with our hockey programs.
Perhaps the next "reset" could involve strengthened Russian-American cooperation in curling and hockey training?
