Really, You Have to Admire the Chutzpah

It is hilarious that defenders of Obamacare are trying to frame employment losses and work-week reductions as a chance to spend more time with families.

Wow, lack of wage-work really is an opportunity (tip to Instapundit). It's like a coordinated meme, or something.

One, I assume this glorious chance to spend time with families doesn't apply to women, who--while certainly free to choose not to work and raise a family--must not do that if they are real women.

Besides, women can't do that lest that bogus income gap grow wider. So only men are allowed to take this chance.

But more to the point, these men soon to have more free time need an attitude adjustment to fully appreciate their good fortune.

Really, let's not speak of "unemployment" or "under-employment." Let's speak of the "full-family focus rate" and the "partial-family-focus rate!"

And "workforce participation rate?" Let's call this the "family-time denial rate!"

So as people give up looking for work revel in more family time, we will report the good news that "the family-time denial rate has successfully been reduced to 60.3%!"

If fewer people have jobs, we can instead rejoice in the increase in the "full-family focus rate!" And if more people are pushed onto part-time work? Well, that's just a glass-half-full statistic reflecting an "increase in the partial-family-focus rate."

Obviously, these family-focused adults will use this time to sit around in onesies, sipping hot chocolate, and discussing health care with their families.

It's funny that the president's allies are using this line of defense. It's sad that some people are buying it as good news.
