Canadians can be justifiably upset that we are playing politics with the decision (tip to Instapundit):
For Obama, what matters is that the green left is making Keystone a litmus test. Obama fundraiser Wendy Abrams, for example, a well-heeled Chicago enviro-activist and Rahm Emanuel buddy whose family owns the country's largest privately held medical equipment maker, recently warned that the Keystone decision would show whether Obama "really wants to begin the transformation to building a renewable energy future."
President Obama's reelection plans are deeper than just this. Choosing Venezuelan and Middle Eastern oil over Canadian oil is just the first step of the deep Obama plan. Clearly, he will engineer a crisis with Canada for an October surprise. Our military's "pivot" to the Pacific will conveniently allow us to pass a lot of our Atlantic-focused forces right by Canada on the way to the Pacific! Coincidence? I think not.
We've drawn a line in the tundra and the Canadians won't survive the shock and awe that Obama will unleash on those supposedly polite and clean Canadians who dare to threaten our post-oil paradise by offering to sell us oil from a secure and democratic ally. Bastards.
Remember, they walk among us--undetected:
The American people will buy whatever oil the Obama administration tells us to.
George W. Bush would have approved the pipeline. Thankfully, President Obama is restoring our reputation abroad.
Hey Canada, miss him yet?
UPDATE: Doh! I wish I had used the title "Canadian Bakken" for the post. It would have fit. So close...
