Pushing Our Buttons

Secretary of State gave her Russian counter-part a "reset" button to symbolize a new era of Russian-American cooperation.

Russia is surely pushing our buttons, but the "reset" button seems strangely inactive.

Russia is defending Iran:

A military attack on Iran would trigger a "chain reaction" that destabilizes the world, while new sanctions against Tehran over its disputed nuclear program would "stifle" the Iranian economy and hurt its people, Russia's foreign minister warned Wednesday.

And defending Syria:

Russia will block any attempt by the West to secure U.N. support for the use of force against Syria, Russia's foreign minister said Wednesday.

And even blaming us for the failure of one of their spacecraft:

The recent failure of a space probe going to Mars is now being blamed on the United States, on a U.S. radar that does not exist.

I wish the Russians would stop resetting us. It's starting to hurt a bit.

As the Obama administration ponders how their smart, nuanced diplomacy is making no headway against Russia's paranoid obstructionism, I'm sure they have figured out the real problem--Bush sure did do a lot of damage and Obama needs to reach out even more to Moscow.
