A Tale Told By an Idiot

For all the sound and fury of the accusations that cruel Republicans are cutting so much federal spending that babes are withering in their mothers' arms, remember this chart (from the Wall Street Journal) that signifies that the shrill partisan accusations signify nothing:

I'd worry about the dangers of cutting spending in bad economic times if I had any worry at all that maximum pressure to stop spending can at best hold the line on spending in the hope that economic growth will restore balance with tax revenue increases.

I never thought I'd look fondly at the fiscal restraint of George W. Bush.
