IS THIS GOOD FOR THE U.S., or more “Weak Horse” consequences? Japan embracing China?
Japan is reaching out to China. I do hope that the Obama administration isn't getting nervous. Remember, Prime Minister Hatoyama is a member of the Democratic Party in Japan. Clearly this is just nuanced reaching out to a rival at the expense of a loyal, longtime ally. How can President Obama oppose that bit of nuanced, smart diplomacy? Except to critique the utter lack of bowing and apologies by the Japanese.
And I'm not worried. China will do something aggressive and remind Japan's PM that China is no potential friend and America is still needed as a friend and ally.
