Never Mind

Remember how proper internationalists worked themselves into frothy outrage over the many crimes of the Bush administration?

Sure you do.

So now that the Obama administration is continuing many of the unilateralist, constitution-shredding, poet-torturing security measures from the last administration, why is the international community and the Global Left so silent?

Apparently the world’s elites piggybacked on the liberal domestic bandwagon stereotype of Bush as the swaggering Texas white male cowboy, and are now OK with Obama, the Nobel Laureate and postracial internationalist, continuing his policies unchanged, albeit with a few requisite sops and empty gestures like the KSM trial-balloon, the faux-deadline on Guantanamo, and the loud inquisitions of former CIA interrogators.

There is a bright side, of course. As I've long thought, President Obama could nuke Iran and get a second Nobel Peace Prize for unilaterally reducing our atomic arsenal--and no matter that we got rid of them by detonating them over Iran.

But it is a useful reminder that cries of "why do they hate us?", whether speaking of jihadis or members of the sainted international community, are pointless to answer given that it isn't our actions at all that rile the Global Left into moral preening and baseless accusations hurled at us.
