The Anti-War Surge Build Up

I predicted that the anti-war side would escalate its opposition to the war by abandoning their rote "support the troops" preface to every attack on the war effort and train their guns on the troops for daring to win the war the Left hates.

This assessment backs me on this opinion:

Democrats are flirting with an electoral disaster next year with their strident anti-military tone. It's almost as though our success in Iraq has driven them to desperation - calling our military leaders liars, shills and traitors. It's one thing to be the loyal opposition and give voice to public frustration; it's quite another to trash the nation's honored and courageous soldiers. While some Republicans were skeptical, none was disrespectful or hostile.

Slow progress in Iraq emboldened the anti-war Left to raise their voices. Having stirred themselves to action after their long hibernation in the face of public support to fight, they will not return to slumbering in the face of more public willingness to persist until victory. A small segment of the communist opposition to the war always hated the troops. This hatred will spread to the netroots. Have no doubt, the Left will escalate their opposition. General Petraeus was just the first target.

This will get ugly before we win the war.
