An American role in the Middle East that promotes a two-state solution protects the Palestinians from the consequences of
treating Israel as an enemy to be destroyed rather than a stronger enemy
who must be persuaded to give a realistic settlement to the
Palestinians. And it elevates Iran to the undeserved status of partner that shields their proxy wars in the region and terrorists across the world.
This article about the outlines of the Biden Middle East policy is, if you will forgive the technical term, "stupid":
Long-term security in the Middle East will start with the ability to maintain an enduring regional deterrent order against Iran and its proxies. Since the 2021 Global Posture Review demonstrated that the United States lacks the forces to maintain a significant, permanent defense posture in the Middle East, this regional order will depend on the United States pressing toward a two-state solution. This progress will in turn allow for Israel to normalize its relationship with Saudi Arabia and more comprehensively integrate itself into the region.
Democrats looove mullah-run Iran and desperately want the Palestinians backed by Iran to again be the Queen of the Victim Prom. Peace and the recent Abraham Accords have been strengthening without a two-state solution. The pause in expansion during the destruction of Hamas will end after this war is over.
That nuanced Biden policy outline is zip-tied to Hamas and its veto on peace agreements through violence. The policy outline strengthens the Hamas patron Iran and emboldens Palestinians to hold out for the destruction of Israel rather than accept a deal that gives them a state with smaller borders than they demand.
We'd be better off recognizing that the Palestinian problem is one more strand in the Gordian Knot that could be severed by getting rid of the mullah regime in Tehran.
UPDATE: The more numerous other victims of war don't get attention as Palestinians because none of them have been nominated by the global left for Queen of the Victim Prom. Tip to Instapundit.
