"I want to strongly appeal to the international community to support the countries that are making such a huge sacrifice, particularly Jordan and Syria," Guterres said in Amman Wednesday before visiting Damascus.

While one could make an argument that Jordan deserves support, the idea that Syria-which is causing the refugee crisis by fomenting terrorism in Iraq--should get our help is outrageous.
Tell Damascus to take the money they are using to kill American troops and Iraqi civilians and buy some tents and food instead. Before long, the refugees will go back to Iraq.
Really. What's that joke about the man who kills his parents and then asks the judge for mercy because he's an orphan? That kid had nothing on boy Assad's chutzpah.
But who can blame a despot for trying to get the world to pay for the blowback of Assad's terror campaign? There will be Westerners who will fall for it. Maybe enough. Who knows?
So what's the UN's excuse for making this argument? Oh yeah, same excuse.
