Syria is poor and lacking in jobs, and many Syrians grumble about the newcomers pushing up the cost of food and housing. The U.N. refugee agency says it is struggling to help the Iraqis, many of whom are poor and running out of the meager funds they brought.
Human Rights Watch wants us to pay to help out. Perhaps Human Rights Watch could be a little less freaking stupid and direct their entreaties to Damascus to stop creating the refugees that plague Damascus.
This is similar to a past problem, the article notes:
Decades after the Middle East was hit by the mass uprooting of Palestinians, it is again struggling with a gigantic refugee problem — this time from Iraq.
Indeed. I noted that the Iraqi Sunni Arabs were truly stupid enough to become the New Palestinians. The Old Palestinians nearly toppled the Jordanian government with their presence more than 30 years ago. Perhaps the New Palestinians will do the same for Syria's Baathist dictatorship.
Perhaps we should help that process along.
