NATO sees no sign of Russia's purported withdrawal of troops:
NATO has no indication that Russia has withdrawn its forces from close to the Ukraine border despite Russian President Vladimir Putin's assertion that they had returned to their training areas, a NATO military official said on Wednesday.
The White House said the same thing.
It's just bizarre.
UPDATE: Hmmm. It strikes me that Putin might want to say that just to see how long it takes NATO surveillance to confirm the location of Russia's ground forces.
Knowing how much time his units have to move into position before crossing into Ukraine (which will be noticed) might be useful information if Putin orders his troops to invade Ukraine. No?
