Making the War Longer

I think the war on terror is appropriately called the Long War because ultimately Moslems have to delegitimize the Islamist impulses that create jihadis. Brunei is going the wrong way.

Well that's just effing great:

Oil-rich Brunei will enforce sharia criminal law next year, the Islamic kingdom's sultan announced on Tuesday, with possible punishments including stoning to death for adultery and flogging for drinking alcohol.

The law would be enforced from April, said the 67-year-old sovereign, Hassanal Bolkiah, one of the world's wealthiest people, who has presided over a shift to more conservative Islam and anti-sedition laws in recent years.

I guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Efforts to create tame Islamism to support the autocratic ruler don't work for long. The feral form always turns on the autocrat who is eventually labeled a Moslem in Name Only.

So military efforts to contain the jihadis will have to go on a little longer.

Could somebody send a shipment of COEXIST bumper stickers to Brunei? Stat!
