A U.S. warship pounded Somalia's remote coastal northeast, targeting Islamic militants hours after a gunbattle with Somali government forces that left eight insurgents dead, officials said Saturday.
As Strategypage noted, this likely means US special forces are on the ground to call in the fire. I can't rule out that drones did the spotting for the shelling, but special forces seems the most likely candidate since special forces are nearby.
UPDATE: It was a cruise missile and not a ship's gun that did the deed. Any special forces were on the job, too.
