Of Carts and Horses

Fascinating:

The realization that the crisis will drag on for some time without a viable plan for a post al-Assad Syria that is connected to Syrians on the ground has prompted a re-thinking of U.S. planning.

I don't mean to spoil the deep post-Assad planning orgy, but we do have to take care of that little matter of getting rid of Bashar Assad and his security forces first.

I know, I know. I lack the nuance gene. But no matter how much you complain that our post-war plan for Iraq was inadequate, simply assuming you win the Syria uprising is no way to get to the post-war.
