An intern with the National Archives stole about 165 Civil War documents — including the War Department's announcement of President Lincoln's death — and sold most of them on eBay, prosecutors charged Thursday.
As the Sandy Berger precedent has established, this is no big deal. So the overzealous Civil War buff will surely be slapped on the wrist for his tiny mistake and sent on his way to steal no more!
If the intern is actually punished for this crime, we may have to consider just what mistake of the Clinton administration was that intern trying to hide by stealing those documents? Otherwise, you might have to consider that Sandy Berger got away with murder!
And that can't happen! I mean, there aren't two Americas out there for stealing documents from the National Archives, are there?
