The Axis of Stupid

I've note that that Palestinians and Iraqi Sunnis seem to vie for the title of stupidest people on the face of the Earth. Their self destructive courses when they've had ample opportunity to embrace a positive future is just amazing.

Well, the Russians are not content to let this trophy reside permanently in the Middle East. Under Putin, Ralph Peters notes that Russia seems determined to make enemies where none exist (and ignore the real threat of China, I might add):

In fact, no country in recent history enjoyed as much foreign good will as Russia did after the Soviet Union dissolved. And no country has made more stupid decisions that appalled those who sincerely wanted to help.

If he sees enemies everywhere (and he does), Putin's also impatient and clumsy, though he thinks he's wonderfully clever. For all his icy exterior, he's a calculating, short-sighted peasant out of Gogol. His recent rant at a defense symposium in Germany only reminded the Europeans that the United States really isn't all that bad.

By the time the Russians realize they are not under assault by the West and that they need our help, it will be too late.

Thus, the Axis of Stupid has been filled out at the standard level of three people.
