Hope Amid the Ruins

As we sort out the meaning of the September 11, 2012 attacks on our embassy (in Egypt) and consulate (in Libya, where four Americans died) over a movie that the Islamists hate, we can count a small victory for sanity:

An Egyptian appeals court has overturned the conviction of one of the Arab world's most famous comedians, who had been sentenced to jail for insulting Islam in his movies.

Of course, it was overturned on a technicality rather than a substantive reason. So it was a very small sign of hope. Let's not get carried away.
