Proxy War

The Pakistanis have been more energetic in fighting the jihadis on their side of the border--albeit they are just trying to make up their losses since about 2006.

Since we have to win on the Pakistani side of the border, too, in order to defeat our enemies in Afghanistan, I haven't thought of the alternatives to Pakistani help.

But I don't know if the Pakistanis will keep up their offensive to control their border areas.

If not, we still need to win on the Pakistani side of the border. And I hope nobody is thinking of actually invading Pakistan. Even if the Pakistani military stayed out of it, we'd be biting off more than we can chew.

But, as I wrote before, there is an alternative to counting on Pakistani help. If you can start thinking post-Westphalian, that is.
