Fall is back! Mister is certainly disappointed that school starts after this weekend, but we've had good weather for a last hurrah at the pool the last couple days. And tomorrow and Labor Day should be good, too.
And, of course, we're back at the Big House for a new year of Michigan football. On a hot and sunny day. My son loves it there:
As we approached the stadium, I looked at my son and said, "See, even with school starting, we have this again." And he smiled. There was no hiding his happiness that we were back at Michigan Stadium to be part (with his grandad) of the biggest crowd to watch a college game today.
We played Western Michigan University and the team looked really good. We didn't try to pile up the score so the second half was pretty tame, really (though we held off a couple long WMU drives that were nerve wracking).
And it did my heart good to hear the crowd chant the coach's name in happiness that our season is starting out with hope. The team also got to rush over to the student section for the new tradition Rodriguez has started.
The WMU fan who stalked out loudly wishing we'd enjoy our 5 and 10 record didn't do his school any favors with that mathematical display (hint, we don't play 15 games ...). As I said to another fan by us, I didn't even know how to respond to that insult.
The walk back home from the stadium is always easy and enjoyable after a victory.
We won't be great this year, but we can see great from where we are.
