Germany's foreign minister said on Monday Europe could not rely on Donald Trump and needed to close ranks after the U.S. president called the European Union a "foe" with regard to trade.
"We can no longer completely rely on the White House," Heiko Maas told the Funke newspaper group.
The Germans, who tell the rest of us that they simply can't be a reliable defense partner because if they had a real military they might catch a whiff of gunpowder and go full Nazi again, are complaining about American reliability? Seriously? When Trump has been demanding NATO step up on defense?
Further, what's up with the "we" stuff? Isn't this advocacy for the EU something the EU foreign policy apparatchik should be talking about rather than the German guy?
Because I believe that Trump is right and didn't go far enough in describing the EU as a trade foe.
Seriously, those Eurocrats believe suppressing democracy is the only way to prevent continent-wide war. The European Union is a proto-imperial state that will, if it can remove the "proto" part, stifle democracy within the European Union; and act on its essentially anti-American nature.
We should, as I've long argued, want the EU to die. Trade is the least of our worries.
