South Korea has responded to North Korea’s torpedoing of one its vessels by blocking passage of that regime’s ships through its waters, a decision that might trigger a war with an increasingly bellicose and emboldened North: hostilities would certainly involve the U.S. troops stationed on the border -- unless President Obama pulls them out as part of his plan to “engage” the North Koreans.
President Obama is simply allowing past decisions by the Bush administration to continue. Indeed, I think the redeployment is a good decision and not one to slam the Obama administration for making.
Not every decision the Obama administration makes is bad--some are continuations of Bush policy after all. Let's celebrate when inertia is our friend and count ourselves lucky.
