A Frenchwoman Eager to Surrender

French presidential candidate Segolene Royal actually said this:

"Choosing Nicolas Sarkozy would be a dangerous choice," Royal told RTL radio.

"It is my responsibility today to alert people to the risk of (his) candidature with regards to the violence and brutality that would be unleashed in the country (if he won)," she said.

Pressed on whether there would be actual violence, Royal said: "I think so, I think so," referring specifically to France's volatile suburbs hit by widespread rioting in 2005.

A presidential candidate in France is actually saying that the Moslem rioters should have an effective veto over who leads France. And she's fine with that.

Amazing. The French may be down; but if Royal wins, I think we can say they are out.

I won't mock the French. We have an equally eager Speaker Pelosi and her chorus of Nancy Boys backing her up in their efforts to surrender.

UPDATE: The Taliban are waiting to see the results of this election before deciding whether to kill their French hostage and three Afghan workers:

For the sake of the French nation who have asked for the Taliban's mercy we have extended the deadline for the French hostage and the Afghans until the end of the French elections," spokesman Yousuf Ahmadi told AFP by telephone.

Ahmadi gave no precise time.

Terre d'Enfance (A World For Our Children) aid worker Eric Damfreville and three Afghans working with him were captured in southwestern Afghanistan on April 3.

A Frenchwoman abducted with them, Celine Cordelier, was released last Saturday when the Taliban extended by a week the deadline for its demands to be met saying it was aware the French nation was "busy" with the election.

I wonder who they think will be the better negotiationg "partner"?
