Iran Bound?

Somebody ambushed a patrol in Iraq, killing 5 and hauling away 3. There were 7 Americans and an Iraqi interpreter travelling in two Humvees.

We are searching:

U.S. and Iraqi troops searched house-to-house and combed fields with their bare hands Saturday after American troops and their Iraqi interpreter came under attack in the notorious "triangle of death" south of Baghdad, leaving five dead and three missing.

Areas where the enemy can hide live captives are shrinking. I have a bad feeling that our guys are heading for Iran. The Iranians want Americans to trade for the Iranian agents we have. They tried this at Karbala earlier this year and may have grabbed those British personnel in the Gulf recently for this reason. But even before our success against Iranian agents, in the fall the Iranians tried to nab one of our platoons patrolling near the Iranian border.

I don't have any evidence for this hunch, but I find it hard to believe that any insurgents or terrorists inside Iraq want the kind of attention that snatching Americans will draw to them. And the Iranians seem to be trying awfully hard to capture some of our troops.
