Stranger Things Have Happened

Austin Bay sees room for some optimism regarding the decision of the UN to return to Iraq:

The United Nations gives the Iraqi government a new diplomatic channel to coax anti-U.S. opposition groups into the political process. And that is most welcome.


Given the aversion of the UN to risks, I take the mere decision to return as a sign that the international community has resigned itself to our success in the war. Anything else as Bay hopes is pure gravy for me.
