Joining the Parade

Iraq is seeking Baathists who finance the insurgency and terror campaign from the safety of other countries. Iraq will get some help:

Jordan and Syria are going to get a lot more pressure to stop providing sanctuary for the Sunni Arab groups that are trying to regain power in Iraq. The international police community have come to agree that these Iraqi exiles are playing a large role in keeping the terrorism going inside Iraq, and that will force these wealthy fugitives to hide a little harder.

Much like the return of the UN to Iraq and the decision by France to seek a helpful role in Iraq, the significance of the movement of the international police community is probably more important for the assumptions of US victory that the changes signify than any concrete help.

But this will be one more nail in the coffin of the resistance to the Iraqi government.
