I'm sure it is a complete coincidence that China is exercising with a country whose main fighter aircraft are the same as Taiwan's.
Hmmm (via Instapundit):
China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will hold their first joint air force drill in August to bolster military cooperation, a move that analysts say sends a message to the United States about the UAE's security options.
This isn't about the Chinese air force practicing in the Middle East. The exercise will take place inside China's Xinjiang province--where China abuses its Moslems in a cultural genocide. With the UAE stamp of approval now, I guess.
My main worry is that China will get a very close look at--and practice flying against--the UAE's F-16s and Mirage 2000s--planes that Taiwan relies on.
If China has learned from Russia's invasion of Ukraine that it must succeed in hitting the capital with airborne forces--that's what I'd do--which Russia failed to do at Hostomel airport in the first days of the invasion, this kind of knowledge will come in handy.
