Public polling data doesn't impress me a lot because most people don't pay enough attention to have well-formed opinions on a lot of issues. But given Germany's policies on defense and foreign affairs, these results would probably be reflected if the poll was restricted to German leadership:
A new poll shows that the German public is increasingly concerned with security, but is dismissive of its American security guarantor and unwilling to pay more to help Europe replace it.
America paid the price and carried the burden to defend West Germany by leading NATO and is the reason there is a united Germany today.
Yet the Germans who see security as an increasing problem somehow don't see a role for America in achieving that.
And Germans don't want to pay for their own security.
Tell me the German leadership is better informed than this public view.
Germany has built a free and prosperous economically advanced country that today is nothing more than a prize to be fought for and plundered. Germany has virtually no ability to weigh in on this national survival issue.
Good grief, people, Belgians have noticed the German problem!
Trump is not Germany's problem--just their most recent excuse to remain virtually defenseless.
And worse, in defense issues Germany is infecting the rest of Europe and dragging them down.
I will repeat what I have said in the past in utter frustration with our German ally:
I keep reading that the Germans hate their militaristic past so much that they don't want to fight.
Let's try applying the clue bat to Germany's collective skull on this issue.
Conquering and setting up death camps under the shield of a powerful military? That's bad. By all means, don't do that.
Having a military capable of fighting death cult enemies or stopping the Russians from moving west? Well, that's a good thing. Try doing that.
And if Germany can't do that, at least have the brain power that God gave mossy rocks to appreciate that America is your only hope to retain your Disneyland fantasy life of a peaceful Europe.
Russia is not Germany's salvation, for freak's sake, but their future masters who would love to own East Germany again and add West Germany to it as well (and don't forget Russia still owns "East Prussia" even today).
Get a freaking clue, Germany.
