Despite weeks of tough warnings, the Obama administration has backed away from its calls to impose new and potentially crippling economic sanctions against Iran in retaliation for an alleged plot to kill Saudi Arabia's ambassador on U.S. soil, according to diplomats and American officials.
But there is precedent. I do recall we gave Iran a deadline of the end of December 2009 to come clean on their nuclear program. We backed away from that.
Iran pays no heed to our words. From experience.
But hey, that outreach might kick in at any minute. I mean of all the nerve! We look the other way while the Iranian regime crushes dissent in order to offer our outstretched hand, and we got nothing?
Yep, any minute now. It will work out just swell.
