The New Iran Deadline

I know what you're thinking. Iran missed their latest end-of-the-year deadline set by President Obama to agree to deal on Iran's nuclear programs. So big deal that the president set another, right?

Wrongo. having gotten tired of simply ignoring President Obama's deadlines, Iran set their own and demanded we meet it:

Iran set a one-month deadline Saturday for the West to accept its counterproposal to a U.N.-drafted nuclear plan and warned that otherwise it will produce reactor fuel at a higher level of enrichment on its own.

The Iranians really believe the world is going their way, don't they?

And what's with the "warning" to the West that they'll enrich Uranium? Who threatens foreigners with cheap and clean nuclear energy?

Sorry. Trick question. Nobody threatens anyone with cheap and clean nuclear-generated electricity. Iran makes their pledge to enrich a warning because even as the Iranians claim to pursue nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, they can't avoid letting their knowledge of the real purpose color their statements on the issue: "Hah! Try to stop us, West? We'll show you! We'll show all of you! Um, yes. I mean when we get that cheap, green nuclear energy we've discussed. Heh heh. My bad. Excuse my outburst. Just a little too much coffee, eh?"

We've sunk so low in our reputation that Iran issues us an ultimatum. Happy new year.
