Nuclear Bribe

I think Turkey really is leaning toward imminent intervention, if this Iranian reaction is any indication:

Turkey is for years trying to have a nuclear power plant but no country in the West is willing to build that for them," Larijani told reporters. "This is true for our Arab (neighbors) in the region."

"We are ready to cooperate with them in this regard, while within the NPT." He was referring to the 1968 nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which aims to prevent the spread of atomic weapons technology.

If Iran is willing to help Turkey (with some confidence that Iran will remain ahead of Turkey on the nuclear arms path), the Iranians must be desperate to save their Syrian client state from defeat.

UPDATE: Please don't invade!

Syria freed more than 1,000 prisoners on Tuesday in an apparent last-ditch bid to placate Arab leaders as Turkey and the United Nations warned President Bashar al-Assad to stop killing his own people.

I'm thinking Assad hasn't appeased anyone with this move.
