The Other Plan B

We are buying Britain's Harrier jump jets:

Britain has agreed to sell all of its 74 decommissioned Harrier jump jets, along with engines and spare parts, to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps - a move expected to help the Marines operate Harriers into the mid-2020s and provide extra planes to replace aging two-seat F-18D Hornet strike fighters.

I hope this is just a hedge against delays in developing the F-35B as a replacement for our Harriers rather than instead of the F-35B.

UPDATE: The Air Force is updating F-16s while they wait for the F-35. Again, I hope this is an interim measure and will not become an alternative to new F-35s.
