Ground drones are behind their air and sea brethren in becoming part of the kinetic party. While I can see sport utility vehicle (SUV)-size unmanned aerial vehicles (UGVs) developing a broad support and logistics role, I’m beginning to think that apart from narrow roles such as base or border defense roles, UGVs are not suitable for ground combat. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) should provide the combat role on the battlefield instead of ground drones.
