The Covid-19 virus was weirdly engineered. Why did it disproportionately target the elderly? Demographers have long said that China will "get old before it gets rich" (and thus unable to care for the elderly). Did the Chinese Communist Party come up with an evil means to get out of that trap?
Viruses may disproportionately affect babies and the young and healthy or the old and sick. That varies from pandemic to pandemic. Why was the Covid-19 virus so much more lethal to the old?
Despite initial strident denials in the West that the virus was engineered in a Wuhan, China bio lab that then leaked into the world (and accusations from China of racism for even raising the issue), that is what almost certainly happened despite uncertain evidence:
The debate has played out in journals and open letters, with some researchers arguing the evidence is most consistent with a natural spillover. Others contend that the circumstances of the outbreak warrant a serious investigation into a lab origin.
I think uncertainties result from China stonewalling inquiries that could definitively settle the issue. China will not. Why?
Early in the pandemic I wondered how a deliberate Chinese biological warfare attack on the West would look different? But I noted an internal target, citing how Hong Kong protests dissipated:
If the [Chinese Communist Party (CCP)] thought the people were rising up, a nice epidemic would nip that in the bud. And if it spreads abroad, what enemy could exploit the epidemic within China? The well connected and loyal CCP people could be protected.
I had raised the internal enemy target earlier. More data since I wrote that early pandemic-as-attack post makes it clear that the old were most vulnerable. Targeting elderly people with an engineered virus makes no sense for a weapon intended for foreign enemies.
But a weapon intended to lift the financial and social burden of caring for an aging population no longer of use to sustaining the CCP would naturally focus on the old while leaving babies and workers/soldiers relatively unscathed.
Do you really think that level of evil is beyond the capacity of a communist ruling party?
