Not That Impressive

Singapore security appears to have broken up an Iranian attempt to kill Israeli diplomats there:

Al-Jarida, a Kuwaiti newspaper, said that three members of an Iranian Hezbollah cell were detained in Singapore this week after Mossad agents passed on intelligence.

An Israeli official said the report was "completely wrong", adding: "No one knows anything about any incident. There has been no alarm."

Israel denies that this was a plot to kill their Minister of Defense, but it isn't at all clear if that denial extends to a plot to kill any Israeli.

But if so, add it to several mostly bungled attacks on Israeli targets in Thailand, Georgia, India, Azerbaijan, and Washington, D.C.

Then consider that these are 5 or 6 attempts to kill hated Israelis in a battle over Iran's most coveted program--their nuclear weapons program.

If Iran can't manage more than this against the hated Jews in defense of their priority nuclear program, we have to wonder about whether Iran can really unleash a wave of terrorism against us if we attack Iran's nuclear program (and, out of necessity, large parts of Iran's military and command and control infrastructure).

Not that I'm underestimating their desire to kill. And I'm not mocking the attempts since only failed attempts look amateurish. A big body count just makes trips to strip bars and other details unimportant. But we shouldn't panic over the idea that Iran will fight back with whatever they have.
