Lamb had a rumbly tummy on Monday so I nervously watched over her instead of taking her to school.
Water, fizzy water, bananas, crackers, and white rice (cooked in the rice cooker with chicken broth which led her to exclaim how good it was) kept her fed, hydrated, and her stomach contents down--after the first hour anyway.
A couple hours in bed watching videos was replaced by video games, Littlest Pet Shop play sets, and then helicopter flying by the afternoon.
She was obviously sick at first, but obviously was getting better by the afternoon. But no Girl Scouts that night, too, just in case.
It was nice to have extended time like that taking care of her. Although having sickness be the reason isn't the way I'd like to go!
But I'm grateful for the opportunity to step in when needed. Until I had a child, I couldn't imagine being a dad. Now I have trouble imagining a day when I won't be (day-to-day).
