We're wondering how the Russians achieved total surprise in their invasion of Crimea, Ukraine.
We truly didn't seem to take the option seriously. Even as I wondered if I was really seeing Russian special forces fanning out in Crimea prior to moving in bigger units, I reported reports that said our intelligence reassured our leaders that Russia would not invade.
I have to wonder what Snowden told the Russians. I have no doubt that the Russians are capable of looking at our intelligence data and figuring out how we look at other countries in order to disguise their preparations for a major troop movement.
But I'm speculating.
