Ignoring the Obvious

Why do the big reports on horrible threats that can destroy us never get to religious fanatics or thug rulers?

I guess vague Apocalyptic threats in the distant future are safer (and more profitable to ego and bank account) than actual ongoing threats in the real world.

Besides, who would elect Elizabeth Warren for president if the threat is Islamo-fascist non-state nutballs or just imperial-fascist states?
