The 1994 Budapest Memorandum requires America and Britain to maintain Ukraine's territorial integrity.
Russia joined that declaration. But never mind.
Ukraine signed and in return gave up nuclear weapons inherited from the USSR.
Doesn't President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize require him to stand up for Ukraine just to defend nuclear disarmament hopes?
UPDATE: More on the Budapest Memorandum.
UPDATE: I blogged this while at a school event on my iPod Touch. So I was perhaps too succint.
My point is that Ukraine promised not to rely on nuclear weapons to deter Russia. We said we'd back Ukraine's territorial integrity if Ukraine gave up their nukes. Ukraine gave up their nukes and now Russia is carrying out a subliminal invasion of Ukraine and fomenting unrest in the east of Ukraine.
Who will want to forego nuclear weapons if they fear invasion if Russia gets away with violating their pledge about Ukraine's territorial integrity?
