We're Not the Only Ones They Hate

American analysts have focused on either blaming America (rare, thank goodness) for the Mumbai attacks or thinking this is related directly to our war in Afghansitan.

I expressed my skepticism about thinking this was a grand plot to hurt our fight in Afghanistan.

This information would seem to undermine the American-centric thinking:

A Pakistani militant group apparently used an Indian operative as far back as 2007 to scout targets for the elaborate plot against India's financial capital, authorities said Thursday, a blow to Indian officials who have blamed the deadly attacks entirely on Pakistani extremists.

I'm not so much interested in the Indian operative-related angle, since even a foreign attack would likely use local allies.

But if the planning went back to 2007, I'd say that by definition this can't be an operation in response to our missile attacks on jihadis in Pakistan since summer and the Pakistani army offensive on the jihadis over the same time frame.

Remember, the jihadis hate lots of people, not just us. Sadly, the poor dumb bastards in India can't even elect Barack Obama to save themselves from the wrath of jihadis.
