Whistling Past Our Graves

My assumption that we would take down the mullah regime in Iran this fall has proven false. And the absence of action has not been because Iran is moderating its behavior and proving it is no threat to innocents.

While it is surely tiresome to remind the world of the sheer awfulness of Iran's regime, let's give it another try, shall we? Even the UN is uncomfortable with the mullahs:

A U.N. committee passed a resolution Friday expressing concern about human rights violations in Iran, deploring its use of torture, discrimination against women and intimidation of political opponents.

Not that a UN resolution means much in a practical manner.

But with the depravity of the regime clear even to the UN, consider this evidence of nuclear ambitions in Tehran:

The U.N. atomic watchdog agency revealed Friday that Iran received black market nuclear designs that diplomats say appear to be blueprints for the core of a nuclear warhead — a finding expected to used by Washington and its allies in their push to have Tehran referred to the U.N. Security Council.

I'm sure it was something innocent. Iran puts out a bid for nuclear technology for electricity generation and some guy just tosses in the warhead design as a bonus. Kind of like one of those cosmetic counter gift bags that come with the purchase of $50 worth of lip gloss. Can Iran really be blamed for this?

I am horrified that we might try to live with this murderous thug regime and accept that its possession of nuclear weapons is acceptable. I am seriously getting depressed.

And no, referral to the UNSC won't make me feel better.
