And while part of this temporary outrage is a question over Iran's nuclear ambitions to carry out that threat against Jews, the Iranian response (via the Weekly Standard blog) should tell us a lot:
Iran is unfazed by the threat of war or sanctions over its disputed nuclear program and mounting international pressure has only hardened its resolve, a senior official said Monday. "They must understand that such an attitude will only persuade us more to have nuclear technology," said top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, responding to widespread condemnation of comments by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Let's recap, shall we?
Iran's regime is murderous and nuts.
We think they are building nukes but the Iranians say they are just pursuing nuclear energy options.
When the West objects to Iran's stated desire to annihilate the Jews and questions the nuclear program in this light, Iran says they will redouble their nuclear efforts to fend off threats of war or sanctions.
Because, you know, when foreign countries threaten you, the threat of building nuclear power reactors will scare them right off.
