Sometimes There are No Good Options

Well I certainly hope we are exploring possibilities to prevent the looming collapse of Venezuela.

The horror:

"We denounce the intervention plans and support for military conspirators by the government of the United States against Venezuela," [Venezuelan foreign minister] Jorge Arreaza wrote on Twitter on Saturday. "Even in U.S. media, the crass evidence is coming to light."

Garrett Marquis, a spokesman for the National Security Council, did not deny the report, but said in a statement that the "U.S. policy preference for a peaceful, orderly return to democracy in Venezuela remains unchanged."

No American conspiracy against the people of Venezuela could be more diabolically evil than what the Venezuelan socialist government has been doing to them since the idiot Chavez and his dullard successor Maduro gained the presidential seat.

Given that we will be expected to cope with a collapse (and perhaps be blamed for not preventing it) if we can't somehow engineer it; and given that we can't go back in time to support a coup to prevent the Chavez/Maduro timeline, I darned well hope we are looking into whether a Venezuelan military coup even at this late date might allow Venezuela to escape the looming humanitarian catastrophe.

UPDATE: A reminder that no matter how bad socialists screw up an economy, right up until the moment the socialist thug rulers are put up against a wall and shot they do just fine, thank you very much.
