I'm sympathetic with this commentary:
While politicians talk about expanding background checks for gun owners, I’m starting to think that what we really need are IQ tests for political officeholders. The only problem is, that might leave us with a lot of vacancies in Congress and America’s statehouses.
That's a bit harsh. But it is true that idiocy is no bar to higher office. I certainly watched one politician protected from his own lack of talent until he was finally promoted to a level that led to criminal convictions and disgrace.
