Sometimes I suspect that the whole "reset" thing with Russia was just a pointless propaganda ploy:
Russian officials said on Thursday the United States had not done enough to address their concerns about an anti-missile shield it is deploying in Europe, indicating U.S. moves to scale down its plans will bring no quick breakthrough.
We didn't address their concerns? I'm sorry, did we not tell them to take a flying leap?
Oh, I know, the Russians feel betrayed that Presiden't Obama's promised post-election "flexibility" hasn't yet resulted in our leader curling into a fetal position to let the Russians just kick us at will while Kerry yells "thank you, sir, may we have another?" But it's early. Kerry and Hagel are still just settling into their jobs, remember. It takes time to inflict the kind of damage to our national defenses that Putin is counting on post-election.
And once again, I'd like to remind you that good people don't want to rip other people's arms off--or nuke them:
Clearly the Russians need more reset lessons. Kerry and Hagel are just the kind heroes to teach Russians how to be good, too. That would be fantastic, no?
I'm sorry. I really love that scene.
