Via InstaPundit, we learn that for the first time, the United States does not rank as one of the world’s ten most prosperous nations, as rated by London’s Legatum Institute. The authors of the report found that the U.S.’s slippage is being driven by “a decline in the number of US citizens who believe that hard work will get them ahead.”
At some point, you have to ask whether this result can be just the result of ineptitude or if it is being done on purpose and they are as competent as they say they are--but for objectives that only they see as positive?
The president and his supporters insist you didn't build that. And increasingly, Americans don't want to build much if they can't get the credit and fruits of that labor and initiative.
Needless to say, we can't remain a dominant global power if we lack the economic power to maintain the economic, military, technological, and soft power that has made us the top power.
Or is forfeiting that status an objective, too?
